College of Teacher Education Nedumkandam was established in December 1992 with seven optional subjects and added Commerce optional in the year 2002–03. Even today, our students are encouraged to actively and creatively engage in the issues of the society. The college at present is blessed with 10 faculty members, 2 non-teaching staff, around 100 students and offers 5 optional subjects in total. 32 batches of the students have already passed out from college.

Facilities

By applying theoretical and practical knowledge, teachers can foster positive attitudes, skills, and healthy behaviors essential for both current and future living. This requires an aptitude for comprehending psychological, sociological, and philosophical principles to support productive cognition. A strong focus on communicative English is vital to empower student teachers to engage effectively across diverse settings. Equally important is the development of evidence-based assessment strategies

About Us

The college is situated at Nedumkandam (140 km away from Kottayam & 175 km from Kochi) headquarters of Udumbanchola Taluk, Idukki district, a land of spices and popular for tourist destinations like Ramakkalmedu, Mathikettan evergreen forest. Indian cardamom Research Institute are close to our college. Nedumkandam is the Centre of the famous tourist places like Munnar and Thekkady. Nedumkandam's history begins over five decades prior, when the first settlements began. Never can one forget the efforts of Sri. PattamThanupilla, then Chief Minister of Kerala who worked towards the development of Nedumkandam. The people residing at Nedumkandam were migrated from different parts of Kerala, Theni and Madurai district of Tamilnadu, representing different religions including scheduled caste Scheduled tribe and other backward classes. Our college is one and only Institute providing teacher education in the educationally backward Udumbanchola Taluk. Idukki is God’s own hide away and the unspoiled natural queen of Kerala with a unique characteristic. A good percentage of the area is reserved forest, much of them are home to varieties of flora and fauna.

And this shows the beautiful citing of the college campus. Even CPAS CTE is one among the B.Ed colleges with wide area of college campus in India. Within the development of these 32 years, the college tries to maintain the natural heritage of the campus and we do have created a mini forest region utilizing the wide area of the campus, and that's a golden feather.

Surrounded by the Fringe Mountains the Masterpiece of Idukki district, Nedumkandm lies there with an attractive longish town about four kilometer stretch of the road. It stands like an ‘evergreen plant’ in the Midway between the famous tourist spots Thekkady and Munnar. Nedumkandam is a town with a history of less than five decades. Cardamom, pepper and coffee are the main stays of economy.

About 2.0270 Hector of the college area is surrounded with rich flora and different varieties of tropical hardwood trees that has medicinal and economical values. The college contains beautiful wall paintings like Madhubani and Warli folk arts that depicts the beliefs, life, customs and traditions of the folks. A sculpture of Standing Woman from Indus valley civilization(BC3500) is made as part of silver jubilee celebration.
